Who we are

OUR STORY

Climate Protection Zambia (CPZ) is an independent local non-profit organization working to support effective practical actions and sustainable policies for low carbon climate resilient development pathways. CPZ is registered under the Non-Governental Organization Act Number 16 of 2009 of the laws of Zambia as a service and research for impact-oriented institution. The organization intends to become a leading center for climate protection integrated practical interventions in Zambia. It is also positioning itself as a beacon for evidence-solutions-based transdisciplinary climate protection and resource conservation related research for impact that actively bridges the gap between climate change sciences in addressing complex societal climate related problems. CPZ has its head office in Lusaka and satellite offices in Kabwe and Shibuyunji districts of Zambia.

Climate Resilient Ecosystems in which Communities will interact in a Low-emission Economy and Society, through Inclusive Green Development pathways.

 

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

Climate Protection Zambia’s mission is to develop and promote appropriate practical low-emission solutions, actions and policies to enable both rural and urban communities become more climate resilient and environmentally friendly in an effort to protect our climate and conserve both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems at all scales. We work with our partners and influence decision makers to maximize our impact by;

  • Embracing multi-stakeholder consultative and participatory approaches in our programs implementation.
  • Taking into consideration Ecosystems Integrity and human wellbeing in our actions.
  • Inspiring others in championing the role that inclusive green growth
  • Believing in the premise that partnership and teamwork is greater than the sum of its individual parts.
  • Speaking for social justice with courage and conviction in solidarity with disadvantaged social groupings.
  • Being in cognizant of Ecological Modernization that economic development and environmental protection are compatible through the operative Precautionary Principle.
  • Being accountable to those we support and those we serve.

  • Conducting transdisciplinary applied Research for Impact in the context of mitigation, adaptation and resilience.
  • We value indigenous and local people’s vast traditional knowledge in protecting our climate.
